—Asuka, every single episode

Asuka Langley Sohryu is a cute girl from the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. Part American, part German and part Japanese, Asuka appears to be a stereotypical tsundere just like Severa of Fire Emblem, but is actually a far more complicated character with all sorts of angsty issues involving mothers and such. Also, she pilots a pseudo-mech (EVA Unit-02) that looks vaguely like Samus' Power Suit while wearing a skintight "plugsuit" that resembles a red Zero Suit. Hmmm...

Being a fiery redheaded girl who occasionally wears sports outfits, Asuka was once suggested on the board as a more acceptable substitute for Daisy in her Sports Outfit. Resident weeb Svedeesh Cheff also impersonates her for his main gimmick account as of late 2016, and even cosplays as her (after infamously gaining a reputation for wanting to crossplay his previous waifu Lucina).

You Can (Not) Be in Smash[]

While there are probably 3 people who unironically want Asuka added as a Smash Bros. character, it's literally impossible because of the following degrees of separation:

  • First of all, she's not a video game character. Only video game characters have been allowed in Smash so far.
  • Secondly, she's hardly a world-famous icon; to that end, characters like Mickey Mouse and Darth Vader would be far more sensible.
  • Thirdly, if an anime character were added, it'd be a more famous and popular Shonen Jump character like Son Goku or Naruto due to their worldwide recognition and (possibly) due to the Nintendo-published Jump Ultimate Stars games.
  • And finally, if an Evangelion character were added, it'd be Rei Ayanami because she's the most popular character in Japan, Masahiro Sakurai comes from Japan, and the Japanese Eva fanbase completely dwarfs the Western one.
  • Finally finally, the Evangelion characters are mecha pilots and haven't shown much hand-to-hand combat skill (not that it's stopped Fox, Falco and especially CAPTAIN FALCONE).

Trivia[]

  • Despite being a character adored by weeaboos, Asuka herself is more or less a westaboo whose mother tongue is German and who got angry about having to switch her Eva's interface language to Japanese.
  • She's named Asuka Langley Shikinami in the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
