Terry Bogard is the 4th DLC character included in the Fighters Pass, revealed on september 2019.
Reception (or lack there of)[]
He is to Ryu/Ken what Joe & Mac are to Simon: An obscure equivalent overshadowed by said counterpart.
Even moreso than Hero, Terry had an underwhelming response from Smash fans from lack of recognition, as it takes fans of "real" fighting games (which the Smash community lacks) to even be familiar mainstream fighting games like Street Fighter, let alone bootlegs of it like Fatal Fury for the even more obscure console Neo Geo AES.
The absence of an article for Terry well after his reveal (until this one, half a year later) is further evidence that people simply don't care enough about him. This is in stark contrast to fighters like Banjo & Kazooie, who had their own article years BEFORE any reveal (albeit due to far-fetched speculation).
Generic as he may seem, he's still a beacon of originality compared to getting yet another anime swordfighter, and will likely get less attention than controversy incarnate for neither being loved OR hated enough to make people care for either reason.
The fact that a Mii costume took the spotlight from his reveal should also tell you something.
